Cold Emergency Activation - Tuesday 2/11/14

On Tuesday, February 11, 2014, the Cold Emergency Alert will be activated. The key services activated for Tuesday evening are:

  • Warming bus - Judiciary Square Area (5th and C Streets, NW); 9:00 pm – 7:00 am
  • Warming bus - Union Station (2 Massachusetts Avenue, NE); 9:00 pm – 7:00 am
  • Warming bus - Farragut Square Area (17th and H Streets, NW); 9:00 pm – 7:00 am
  • Warming bus - West End Library Parking Lot (24th and L Streets, NW); 9:00 pm – 7:00 am
  • Warming site - Old DC Council Chamber (441 4th Street, NW); 9:00 pm – 7:00 am

When the actual or forecasted temperature or wind chill is 32 degrees F or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert. If the actual or forecasted temperature or wind chill is 15 degrees or below, or 20 degrees with precipitation or other cold indicators, a Cold Emergency Alert will be activated. This means that additional services and supports are available to help homeless residents.
