Mayor Bowser to Announce New Services Supporting Child Care Providers

Legal Clinic is Administration’s Latest Effort to Help Families Access Quality Childcare in the District, Address Shortage of Childcare Facilities

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, May 3, at 10 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will announce a legal clinic to support existing and aspiring childcare providers looking for assistance navigating the rules and regulations governing childcare facilities in Washington, DC. The clinic will feature speakers and volunteers from the DC Bar Pro Bono’s Center and provide free legal services to providers.

Earlier this week, Mayor Bowser announced her Administration’s Thrive By Five DC initiative – a citywide effort to ensure DC families are connected with the wide range of early childhood health and education resources offered to families in Washington, DC. Mayor Bowser’s Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Proposal includes a $15 million investment in child care across Washington, DC over the next three years, which will help expand the availability of affordable, accessible and high-quality child care development centers.
