Mayor Bowser to Launch New Health and Wellness Initiative

FitDC kicks off first “Ward Walk” with District officials

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, April 11 at the Takoma Recreation Center, Mayor Muriel Bowser along with Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, Brenda Donald, the Director of the DC Department of Health (DOH), Dr. LaQuandra S. Nesbitt, and Acting Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Keith A. Anderson, will announce the launch of FitDC, a new health and wellness initiative. This initiative encourages residents to live a healthier lifestyle by linking them to nutrition and physical fitness resources in their communities, including official FitDC Coaches who can offer guidance on making healthy lifestyle choices. District officials will also announce the opening of auditions for District residents applying to be FitDC Coaches.

After the announcement, Mayor Bowser will be joined by other city officials and residents for a walk through of Ward 4 neighborhoods. FitDC ensures that all residents in all eight wards have access to the tools and resources necessary on a pathway to better health.
