School Mental Health Program and School Health Services Program


The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) and Department of Health (DOH) released new plans to expand school health and behavioral health services to improve student academic and health outcomes across the District. DBH’s School Mental Health Program and DOH’s School Health Services Program both emphasize the importance of integration, alignment, and collaboration among the school, clinicians, and the community to best support a child’s health and learning.

The State Early Childhood Development Coordinating Council will be meeting on May 22, 2014 at 1 pm in Room 527 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Cold Emergency Activation - February 28, 2014

Date Released: 

On Friday, February 28, 2014, the Cold Emergency Alert will be activated. Additional services and supports will be available to help residents who are homeless.

In addition to shelters, the following locations will open as overnight warming sites:

  • West End Library (24th and L Streets, NW), Co-ed, 9 pm – 7 am
  • Sherwood Recreation Center (640 10th Street, NE), Co-ed, 9 pm – 7 am

Cold Emergency Activation - Wednesday 2/12/14

Date Released: 
On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, the Cold Emergency Alert will be activated. Please note that due to the amount of snow expected, it will not be safe to operate warming buses. No warming buses will be in operation, additional warming sites will be opened. Extra outreach will commence today to bring homeless individuals to safe and warm facilities before the weather makes transport dangerous.
